Quick posts
For what has to go up in minutes: a banner, a news post, an event or a front-page change, with one form and one button.
A closure, holiday hours, an offer, tonight's event: some things can't wait for a careful review. Quick post does in one form what the rest of the editor does in steps.
In the site view, choose Quick post (or press Ctrl+K and type "quick").

What you can post
| Banner or alert | A line across the top of every page, or only the home page. An alert stands out more. It can start later, and come down by itself: at the end of today, tomorrow, in a week, or at a time you pick. |
| News post | A short announcement, dated today, in the collection you choose. |
| Event | Something on a date, with a time or all day, where, and a tickets link. It goes into the site's calendar and its feed. Shown when the site has the calendar. |
| Front page | The home page's sections: change the words and buttons, add upcoming events. |
Post now
Post now does four things in one go:
- saves the change on a new draft;
- opens a review for it;
- runs the checks;
- publishes it, if your platform lets you publish this site.
If the checks find a problem, nothing is published: the review stays open, with the problem listed. If you can't publish this site yourself, the review waits for someone who can. Send for review stops after step 3, for when someone should look first.
A quick post is an ordinary change, made as you and kept in the history, so it can be undone like any other.
Banners
Banners are kept in data/banners.yaml. The quick post writes it, and you can edit it by hand:
- text: Closed Thursday for Thanksgiving.
link: /news/holiday-hours/
link_text: Holiday hours
tone: alert # info (the default) or alert
show: home # all (the default) or home
from: 2026-11-20 00:00
until: 2026-11-27 00:00
- One line, up to 280 characters. Put the rest on a page and link to it.
- Times are in your site's time zone. The site changes at those times only when it's rebuilt: the pull agent does that by itself, and pipelines from
hotdog-cms cirebuild every hour. - Take down removes a banner straight away.
