Writing
Pages, articles, Markdown, pictures, sections, menus and more.
- Pages and articles
Every page is a Markdown file in content/. Its place decides its address, and a few lines at the top decide its title, date and summary.
- Markdown
Markdown is plain text with a few symbols for headings, lists, links and emphasis. Here's everything you need for most pages, side by side with how it looks.
- Pictures
Put pictures in static/, describe them for people who can't see them, and keep them light. The editor does the resizing for you.
- Sections
Some pages, like the home page, are built from blocks called sections instead of written as text. Here's how to stack them and fill them in.
- Menus and links
Change the links in your header and footer, link pages to each other, and keep old addresses working when a page moves.
- Tags
Give articles subjects, and HotDog makes a page for each subject listing everything about it.
- Events
Add a calendar to your site, with a page for each event and a feed people can subscribe to in their calendar app.
- Forms
The contact form, and how to make your own. Forms are a short file each; sending them needs a small program on your server.
- Drafts and scheduling
Keep a page off the site until it's ready, or have it appear on its own at a time you choose.
